Chapter 12

Chapter 12: The New Literacies: The World of Online Children's Literature

In this chapter, we learn about how in today's society children are becoming digital learns. Kaiser Foundation even states, "Ninety-three percent of children ages 8-18 spend an average of 90 minutes a day using the computer at home." Throughout the chapter, we focus on the emerging of the internet and children's literature through a variety of options.

In my opinion, I believe technology has had a huge impact today on everyday life. Also, there are many benefits in the education field that technology has helped to advance students to make it easier for students to learn. From online read alouds to interactive storybooks, the Internet has allowed the world of online literature to grow rapidly. The use of the Internet helps build experiences and knowledge with all of the programs offered to help the literature learners. In the classroom or out of the classroom you are allowed to use the Internet to create a new way of teaching. I personally believe it is important to create a balance in your classroom with hard copies of literature, yet still inquire the Internet to keep students updated with technology. After all it is the future of our generation.
